Mental Health Services

NorthStar Learning Centers’ Mental Health Outreach Program—a beacon of comprehensive care, collaborative empowerment, and stigma-breaking initiatives.

At the core of our approach is a groundbreaking partnership with law enforcement, addressing the overrepresentation of mental health challenges in the criminal justice system. Through a pre-arrest, police-based jail diversion program, our clinicians provide immediate intervention and referral at the scene, breaking down barriers and fostering resilience.

Further, our commitment extends to schools, seamlessly integrating services into the school day to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health support.

Young Adult Support

At NorthStar Learning Centers, we are dedicated to addressing the critical impact of violence on young lives. Our commitment to safer communities is evident through three impactful Prevention and Intervention Programs:

HEAL Center: The HEAL Center focuses on Healing, Empowerment, Advocacy, and Leadership. It delivers intensive, culturally responsive, trauma-informed prevention and intervention services, including wraparound care and mental/behavioral health support.
New Bedford Shannon (NBS): NBS is a collaborative effort involving law enforcement, community organizations, and support services. It aims to prevent and reduce youth violence through targeted interventions, mentorship, and community engagement, fostering an environment where young individuals can thrive.
Safe & Successful Youth Initiative (S.S.Y.I): SSYI addresses the needs of high-risk young individuals, providing comprehensive support and resources to break the cycle of violence. By offering mentorship, educational opportunities, and skill development, SSYI empowers young adults to envision a future free from violence.
